Sonification of EEG Readings

EEG readings from each hemisphere of the brain of an adult male rat are mapped to audible ranges of midi notes in E minor Aeolian. These values are sent to two separate FM synthesizers, which are then played out through the appropriate stereo channel (right hemisphere = right channel, left hemisphere = left channel). The relationship between values are best heard when listened to through headphones. This sonification was built with the open source DSP programming environment Pure Data and makes use of publicly available datasets. The specificities of the experiment in which the data were produced are documented in the publication listed below.
