Katie Gately, Bracer (Official Video)
For Bracer, a song from Katie Gately's 2020 album, Loom, I was commissioned by Katie to produce a visualization that would react to Bracer's many crescendoes and rich, sonic textures in a meaningful way. The goal was create a feeling of interiority — an organic form variably growing, shrinking, and evolving within some interior space in response to various events and qualities in the music. We seem to be viewing this form through the lens or screen of some unknown scientific instrument. As the music reaches its final crescendo, the form spreads and overtakes the visual field, causing technical glitches and distortions that, to my mind at least, resonate with the song's central motif.
